6th IPCRG World Conference
About Edinburgh 2012
The 6th World Conference of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 25th – 28th April 2012. The event will be hosted by the Primary Care Respiratory Group UK.
Over the past decade IPCRG world conferences have grown in stature: nearly 1,000 delegates from 42 countries attended Seville in 2008. The 2012 conference will build on this success with its theme of Breathing New Life into the management of people with respiratory diseases.
Breathing New Life into the care we provide for people with the common primary care conditions of asthma, rhinitis, COPD, tobacco addiction and respiratory infections.
Breathing New Life into our understanding of the important, but less common respiratory conditions (e.g lung cancer, interstitial lung disease) that we need to recognise, refer and for which as primary care clinicians we provide on-going support.
Breathing New Life into our approach to the common respiratory symptoms of cough, wheeze and breathlessness that are presented to us every day in our practices.
Breathing New Life into our care of people from cradle to grave: from wheezy infants to people dying with very severe COPD, from young people with asthma and rhinitis to adults with smoking damage to lungs.
Breathing New Life into our management of respiratory infections, both for the individual patient whom we are treating and the health of the communities in which we work.
Breathing New Life into our practice, learning and sharing experience (both good and bad!) of the diverse healthcare systems in which we work.
Our programme will bring together:
- Internationally renowned key note speakers
- Symposia addressing the issues of relevance to primary care practitioners
- Cutting edge research from the leading primary care respiratory research units around the world
- Practical workshops led to update the skills for everyday practice
- Opportunities to network with like-minded colleagues from around the world
- A conference dinner and ceilidh as a perfect end to the conference
